September 24: Spot steam coal prices showed marginal increase on renewed Chinese buying interest, market sources said.
Prices of South African coal (6,000 NAR) firmed up slightly on expectations that Indian buying may get a boost before the festive season in October. Also, Australian steam coal (6,300 GAR) prices made gains on higher Chinese demand, sources said. There were, however, little movement in Indonesian coal prices, which are expected to remain flat for some time now.
There was slight firmness in the spot coking coal market, primarily on the China factor.
