April 20: Ion Exchange, a key players in the water treatment industry in India, has forayed into the coal processing chemicals business, developing solutions to increase the yield at coal beneficiation plants, a company official said.
“We have entered into the coal and mineral processing chemicals business in the recent past. We are trying to get a foothold in this market,” the official said.
The company, based in Mumbai, has its chemical division in Hyderabad and it is promoting its mineral processing chemicals under the brand name ‘Indfroth’, he said.
The products include frothing chemical for coal flotation, frother-cum-collector chemicals for coal flotation, high efficiency polyelectrolyte for solid-liquid separation in thickeners and vacuum belt filter and coagulant for coal dewatering applications, he said.
The frothing chemical for coal flotation increases flotation yield and improves coal quality. The coagulant for coal dewatering can be used neat or in dilution with clean water. It also allows good froth formation and fast settling and fast dewatering, he added.
