J K Lakshmi Cement procures imported pet coke

September 19: J K Lakshmi Cement Ltd, which is scheduled to commission is new cement plant at Durg in Chhattisgarh in the last quarter of 2014 has recently procured imported pet coke on trial basis, a source said.
“The company had brought one part shipment from Reliance Industries Ltd, which had imported the material from the US Gulf Coast at about $94 per ton CFR Paradip port,” the source said.
In addition, the cement maker had procured one full shipment of petcoke from a refiner based in the US, which will be unloaded at Kandla port and used at its plant in Rajasthan, the source said.
“The material that J K Lakshmi procured directly from US refiner was about $1-2 cheaper than that it brought from Reliance,” the source added.
The company plans to procure pet coke upto the extent of 40% of its total fuel requirement at Durg plant. Of the remaining, 50% will be domestic coal and 10% will be be low sulphur South African coal.
