JSW Energy’s Q3 net down 15% to Rs 380.19 cr
20 Jan 2016
JSW Energy Ltd, on January 20, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 320.68 crore in the third quarter ending December 31, 2015, down 15.52% compared to Rs 380.19 crore reported in the same period of the previous year.
The net profit was down despite an 11% y-o-y decline in fuel cost to Rs 1,100 crore.
The decline in fuel cost was attributed to a steep fall in the international prices of coal, partly offset by the depreciation in the Indian rupee versus the US dollar.
The consolidated results for the first nine months of April-December stood at Rs 1,090.08 crore, up 6.42% from 1,024.29 crore during the same period last year.
The net power generation stood at 6,052 MUs, primarily due to addition of newly acquired hydro plants in Himachal, as against 5,366 MUs in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The company said that during the quarter, the thermal power plants have achieved an average deemed plant load factor (PLF) of 90% as against 87% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The hydro power plants have achieved an average PLF of 24% during the current quarter, given the impact of seasonality and availability of water.
