JSW contracts to procure met coke
29 Oct 2013
October 29: JSW Steel Ltd has reportedly concluded a spot deal to procured one cargo of metallurgical coke for delivery either at New Mangalore port or Mormugao port, industry sources said on October 29.
The deal was struck with Vitol recently at around $274 per ton CFR for material with CSR of 64%, the sources added.
"Met coke prices are ruling steady because of low availability and comparatively better demand from Indian steel makers and that is why offers are coming even at $276 per ton," source further added.
According to ICMW's estimates, the price of imported met coke is around $272 per ton CFR India and, going by this, JSW has concluded a deal to procure the material at a slightly higher price.
