Jan coking coal imports via Marmagoa up 33% m-o-m

March 4: Coking coal imports through the port of Marmagoa rose almost 33.30% to 285,948 tons in January 2015 from 214,518 tons reported in December 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In January 2014, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 439,481 tons.
In the first ten months (April-January) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 3,609,468 tons as against 2,997,137 tons recorded during the same period of 2013-14.

In January 2015, out of the total quantity, 241,764 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7370-Rs 9393 ($118-$147) per ton whereas the rest of 44,184 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7830 ($123) per ton.
In December 2014, 136,608 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,370-Rs 8,849 ($115-$142) per ton whereas the balance 77910 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 8,843 ($141) per ton.
