Jan limestone imports via Kolkata at modest 792 tons

Imports of limestone through the port of Kolkata were at a nominal 792 tons, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

While data from August-December, 2015 are not available, imports of the material through the port had dropped a moderate 55.60% to 54,475 tons in July 2015 against a far more voluminous 122,709 tons in June.

The following table gives details of limestone imports via Kolkata Port in January 2016:
 

January 2016 imports comprised 684 tons from Vietnam in a price band of Rs 6,448 – Rs 7,194 ($96-107) per ton and the balance 108 tons from Malaysia at a unit price of Rs 6,762 ($99).

In July 2015, imports had comprised 44,121 tons from the UAE in a price band of Rs 1,051 – Rs 1,695 ($16-26) per ton, 5,627 tons from Oman at a unit price of Rs 1,696 ($26), 3,990 tons from Vietnam in a range of Rs 5,973 – Rs 8,032 ($73-125) per ton, amongst others.

However, in June 2015, imports had comprised 41,000 tons from the UAE in a price band of Rs 1,190 – Rs 1,613 ($18-25) per ton, 52,306 tons from Oman in a range of Rs 1,548 – Rs 1,690 ($24-26) per ton, 4,807 tons from Vietnam in a range of Rs 5,545 – Rs 8,048 ($86-124) per ton, amongst others.
