Jan steam coal imports via Paradip drop 40.68% m-o-m

February 10: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip dropped 40.68% to 489,348 tons in January 2014 against 824,988 tons reported in December, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports through the port during the first 10 months of FY’14 stood at 5,599,031 tons against 6,506,537 tons reported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In January 2014, 408,727 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,692 – Rs 5,546 ($43-$89) per ton, 78,095 tons came in from South Africa in a price band of Rs 5,432 – Rs 6,021 ($86-$97) per ton and the balance 2,525 tons came from Australia at a unit price of Rs 6,019 ($97).
In December, 824,839 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,670-Rs 5,425 ($42-$87) per ton while the balance 149 tons arrived from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,360 ($102).
