PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata were at 84,098 tons in January 2016 against 87,485 tons in December 2015, showing a month-on-month dip of 3.87%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 96,719 tons in January 2015 while for fiscal 2014-15, the volumes stood at 615,010 tons.
With the January figures, total imports of the material in the first 10 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 570,338 tons against 493,088 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal, rising 15.66% year-on-year.

January 2016 saw 74,148 tons arriving from Australia in a band of Rs 4,774 – Rs 5,010 ($70-75) per ton while 9,950 tons came in from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,038- Rs 4,907 per ton.
In December 2015, a volume of 80,794 tons arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 4,858 – Rs 5,155 ($72-77) per ton, 6,690 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,007 – Rs 4,038 ($60) per ton.
