Jindal, 14 others summoned by court in coal block allocation scam

Denying all charges against its chairman, Naveen Jindal, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) said on Wednesday it was confident of being vindicated at the end of the ongoing coal scam case, in which the politician-cum-industrialist has been summoned as an accused.

Jindal and 14 others, including former minister of state for coal Dasari Narayan Rao and former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, were summoned on Wednesday as accused by a special court in the Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block allocation scam case.

Besides Jindal, Rao and Koda, the other seven individual accused summoned by the court are former coal secretary H C Gupta and six others — Gyan Swaroop Garg; Suresh Singhal; Rajeev Jain; Girish Kumar Suneja; R K Saraf; and K Ramakrishna Prasad.

The five firms, which have been summoned as accused in the case are JSPL, Jindal Realty Pvt Ltd, Gagan Infraenergy Ltd, New Delhi Exim Pvt Ltd, and Soubhagya Media Ltd.

JSPL said in a statement: “We deny all allegations made against our company and its management. We will be availing of appropriate remedy in accordance with law. We have full faith in our judiciary and are confident to come out clean during the process.”

It said the allocation was made to the company on merits and all along the course of the investigation, the company and its officials have fully cooperated with the authorities, and whenever asked, explained and provided all the supporting documents.
