Jindal ITF, Sula Shipping join hands for NTPC coal movement

Jindal ITF, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jindal Saw and Sula Shipping and Logistics have joined hands for the Farakka trans-shipment project of coal for NTPC.

A Jindal Saw statement on Wednesday said the partnership would increase the efficiency of the NTPC-Farakka waterways project which delivers imported coal to Farakka by barges.

The project is set to deliver three million tonnes of coal to Farakka via the Hooghly River.

The Hooghly and Ganga waterways under the new initiatives launched by the government would soon form a major supply route to and from the hinterland of North and East Indian industrial areas.

Expecting significant movement of coal in the next decade, the company hoped cargo movement through inland waterways via this (NW-I) route was expected to grow to 24 million tonnes over the next few years.
