Jul coking coal imports via Mormugao drop 60.02% m-o-m

August 13: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao fell 60.02% to 163,934 tons in July 2014, against a quantum of 409,996 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In July 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at nil.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,774,425 tons as against nil imports recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During July 2014, 85,504 tons of coking coal came in from Australia at a price of Rs 8,850 ($147) per ton whereas the rest of 78,430 tons came in from Canada at a price of Rs 7,551 ($124) per ton.
On the other hand, in June 2014, 264,162 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,147-Rs 8,611 ($136-$143) per ton, 78,534 tons came in from Canada at a price of Rs 8,918 ($148) per ton while 67,300 tons came in from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,389 ($122) per ton.
