July coking coal imports via Paradip more than double m-o-m

August 12: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip more than doubled to 1,156,755 tons in July 2014 against a quantum of 438,087 tons recorded in June, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in July 2013 stood much lower at 395,309 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port during the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 2,465,532 tons from 1,568,464 tons imported through the port during the same period of 2013-14.
Total coking coal imports for the last fiscal of 2013-14 stood at 5,954,933 tons.
Following are the details of coking coal imports via Paradip in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In July, 1,135,144 tons arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 3,794-Rs 9,080 ($63-150) per ton while the balance 21,611 tons came in from New Zealand in a band of Rs 7,586 – Rs 7,845 ($126-131) per ton.
In June, all the consignments arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,550 – Rs 8,352 ($109-140) per ton.
