July coking coal imports via Vizag edge up 0.35% m-o-m

August 28: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag inched up 0.35% to 473,991 tons in July 2014 against a quantum of 472,347 tons in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In July, 2013, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood a little higher at 490,558 tons.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 1,840,983 tons against 2,276,039 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In July, imports included 421,702 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,708 – Rs 8,340 ($112-138) per ton, 50,940 tons from the US in a band of Rs 8,192 – Rs 8,274 ($135-136) per ton while the balance 1,348 tons came in from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,936 ($132).
Imports in June comprised 392,174 tons from Australia in a range of Rs 4,447-8,150 ($74-136), 57,027 tons from New Zealand in a range of Rs 6,653 – Rs 7,858 ($111-130) and 48,180 tons from the US in a range of Rs 8,967- 9,004 ($150) per ton.
