July output from Indian captive blocks up 44.27% y-o-y

August 27: Coal production from the captive blocks in India rose 44.27% to 5.67 million tons (mt) in July 2014 compared to 3.93 mt recorded in the corresponding month of 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis, production from captive blocks during the month increased by 4.04% compared to 5.45 mt produced in June, the data revealed.
During the first four months of 2014-15, coal production from the captive blocks stood at 22.23 mt, up 25.31% from 17.74 mt recorded in the same period of the last fiscal.
The target for the first four months was 22.75 mt, which means output from the captive blocks during the month for the first four months fell short by 2.29%.
The production target for the captive blocks for the month of July was 5.69 mt, same as in June.
The annual production target in 2014-15 for the captive blocks stands at 68.25 mt
