July steam coal imports via Paradip down 33.58% m-o-m

August 12: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip dropped 33.58% to 579,172 tons in July 2014 against a volume of 872,114 tons reported in June, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in July 2013 stood a little lower at 542,485 tons.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 2,504,887 tons against 2,814,652 tons imported during the same period of 2013-14.
Total steam coal imports in 2013-14 were at 6,907,374 tons.

In July, 388,185 tons were imported from Indonesia in a range of Rs 2,564 – Rs 4,263 ($42-71) per ton, 168,622 tons arrived from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,916 – Rs 5,519 ($81-91) per ton while the balance 22,365 tons came in from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,251 (71).
In June, imports comprised 148,895 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 5,475 – Rs 8,862 ($91-148) per ton, 623,183 tons from Indonesia in a range of Rs 2,651 – Rs 11,691 ($44-195) per ton, 17,539 tons from other countries at a unit price of Rs 2,658 ($44) and the balance 82,497 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 5,365 – Rs 5,560 ($90-93) per ton.
