June coking coal imports via New Mangalore slump m-o-m

August 7: Coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during June 2014 fell sharply to 5,000 tons from 40,357 tons recorded in May 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In June 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 50,748 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through New Mangalore Port in April-June, 2014-15 stood at 91,336 tons against 143,220 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In June 2014, the entire material came in from Australia at a price of Rs 6,208 ($104) per ton.
However, during May 2014, 5,000 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 6,208 ($102) per ton while 35,357 tons came in from Mozambique at a price of Rs 8,985 ($150) per ton.
