June output from Indian captive blocks up 25.87%

July 31: Coal production from the captive blocks in India rose 25.87% to 5.45 million tons (mt) in June 2014 compared to 4.33 mt produced in the corresponding month of 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis, production from captive blocks during the month dropped by 2.50% compared to 5.59 mt produced in May, the data revealed.
During the first three months of 2014-15, coal production from the captive blocks stood at 16.52 mt, up 19.62% from 13.81 mt recorded in the same period of the last fiscal.
The target for the first three months was 17.06 mt, which means output from the captive blocks for the first three months fell short by 3.16%.
The production target for the captive blocks for the month of June was 5.69 mt, same as in May.
The annual production target in 2014-15 for the captive blocks stands at 68.25 mt.
