June steam coal imports via Paradip up 40.66% m-o-m

July 24: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip rose 40.66% to 872,114 tons in June 2014 against a volume of 619,987 tons reported in May 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Steam coal imports in June 2013, stood much higher at 1,107,261 tons.
In the first three months of the current financial year (2014-15) steam coal import through the port stood at 1,925,715 tons, from 2,272,167 tons imported through the port during the same period of 2013-14.

In June, imports comprised 148,895 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 5,475 – Rs 8,862 ($91-148) per ton, 623,183 tons from Indonesia in a range of Rs 2,651 – Rs 11,691 ($44-195) per ton, 17,539 tons from other countries at a unit price of Rs 2,658 ($44) and the balance 82,497 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 5,365 – Rs 5,560 ($90-93) per ton.
In May, 2014, a total of 482,941 tons of coal were imported from Indonesia through the port at a price band of Rs 2,353-Rs 5,034 ($39-$83) per ton, 82,196 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,688-Rs 6,001 ($93-$99) a ton and 58,850 tons of coal were imported from other sources at a price range of Rs 3,733 or $62 per ton.
