K.K Sharma takes charge as Director Operations, NTPC

November 3: K.K Sharma has assumed charge as Director (Operations), NTPC on November 1, 2014, a release by the company said.
Sharma, a mechanical engineer and MBA in Finance, has a career spanning over 39 years with contributions in the areas of mega-budget thermal, hydro power and coal mining projects as a professional manager, strategic planner and a business leader.
He has led several strategic initiatives for execution of projects as well as achieving operational excellence in NTPC, the release added.
He has been the Business Unit Head (BUH) of NTPC-SAIL JV at Durgapur Station, Project head of NTPC, Farakka and Koldam. He has also served NTPC as Regional Executive Director in hydro region, coal mining/coal washeries, eastern region, project planning and monitoring and as CEO of NTPC-SAIL power company.
He played the pivotal role in resolving resettlement and rehabilitation issues in Koldam, getting forests and environment clearances for captive mines of NTPC, developing business process for mine development, green field projects construction, SAP implementation & introduction of ERP-PS module for on-line monitoring of projects.
As a Director (Operations), he shall be overall responsible for the activities relating to sustained operation including fuel management of all NTPC stations.
