KPCL’s June coal imports below target

July 17: The Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) imported 106,000 tons of steam coal in June 2014, about 25.35% lower from its target of 142,000 tons for the month, according to provisional data of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) made available to ICMW.
The power generator’s coal imports during the month were down more than 16.54% compared to the actual imports of 127,000 tons in May 2014, but up nearly 2.91% compared to 103,000 tons imported in June 2013, the data revealed.
Provisional imports of coal by KPCL in April 2014 were at 180,000 tons, which was revised to 187,000 tons, the data said.
Following the revision in April figures, the power generator’s coal imports during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 453,000 tons, up 8.37% compared to the provisional import of 418,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
