KPCL’s November coal imports much below target

December 22: Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) imported 34,000 tons of coal in November 2014, which fell short of the month’s target of 142,000 tons, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis, November steam coal imports were almost 22.73% less than 44,000 tons in October 2014, according to provisional data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) made available to ICMW.
In November 2013, coal imports by KPCL stood at 86,000 tons.
The power generator’s coal imports during the first eight months of 2014-15 stood at 805,000 tons, up 10.43% as compared to provisional imports of 729,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
