KPCL’s October coal imports below target

November 19: Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) imported 44,000 tons of coal in October 2014, which fell short of the month’s target of 142,000 tons, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis, October steam coal imports were almost 60% less than 110,000 tons in September 2014, according to provisional data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) made available to ICMW.
In October 2013, coal imports by KPCL stood at 112,000 tons.
The power generator’s coal imports during the first seven months of 2014-15 stood at 771,000 tons, up 20.09% as compared to provisional imports of 642,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
