KPCL’s September coal imports below target

October 24: Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) imported 99,000 tons of coal in September 2014, which fell short of the month’s target of 142,000 tons, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
On a month-on-month basis, September steam coal imports were almost double from 49,000 tons in August 2014, according to provisional data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) made available to ICMW.
In September 2013, coal import by KPCL stood at nil.
Following the revision in June figures, the power generator’s coal imports during the first six months of 2014-15 stood at 727,000 tons, up 42.27% as compared to provisional imports of 511,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
