KPCL’s coal imports fall short of target in February

March 17: There were 1,00,000 tons of steam coal imported by Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) during February 2015 while the target for the month had stood at 142,000 tons, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
However, there were no imports of steam coal by KPCL during January 2015 while the target for the month had stood at 142,000 tons.
Imports of steam coal by KPCL during February 2014 stood at 1,98,000 tons.
The power generator’s coal imports during the first 11 months of 2014-15 stood at 1,022,000 tons, down 13.02% compared to provisional imports of 1,175,000 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.
KPCL’s import target for 2014-15 is 1.7 million tons.
Of the total imports during the 11 months of 2014-15, 98,000 tons were by its Bellary plant and 924,000 tons by the Raichur plant. Details of the balance 100,000 tons were not available.
