KPCL’s coal imports in Nov at negligible 4,000 tons

December 30: Imports of steam coal by power utility Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) in November stood at a mere 4,000 tons compared 78,000 tons in October 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The actual import in November was only 5% of the target of 83,000 tons.
The imports of steam coal by KPCL during the first eight months (April-November) of 2015-16 stood at only 265,000 tons, down 67% compared with 810,000 tons imported during the same period of 2014-15.
The import target for the utility for the first eight months of 2015-16 was 667,000 tons.
The original import target for the year was 2.0 mt, but it was revised to 1.0 mt in July following increased availability of domestic coal.
