Kakinada Port hikes tariff by 5% in FY15

April 10: Kakinada Seaports Limited has increased the tariff charges - for port dues; pilotage and birth hire - by almost 5% with effect from April 1, 2014 to balance the cost increase for the expansion plan of the port, according to information available with ICMW.
All tariffs are related to foreign bound vessels.
“We are going for expanding our present infrastructure and putting in a lot of mechanism. So the costs have gone up and we have no other option but to increase tariff,” a senior port official told ICMW.
According to information available, in 2014-15, port dues for vessels up to 30,000 gross tons (GRT) increased 5.08% to $0.062 compared to $0.59 in 2013-14, while the same for above 30,000 GRT increased 4.92% in the current financial year to $0.640 compared to $0.610 in the previous year.
Berth hire charges for vessels up to 30,000 gross tons increased by 4.86% to $0.151 in 2014-15 compared to $0.144 in 2013-14, while the same for above 30,000 GRT increased 5.33% to $0.158 compared to $0.150 in 2013-14.
Minimum charge of berthing of a foreign vessel is $425 per vessel per day, the port data revealed.
The pilotage charge for vessels up to 30,000 gross tons in 2014-15 increased 5% to $0.151 compared to $0. 144 in 2013-14, while the same for above 30,000 GRT increased 5% to $158 compared to $150 in 2013-14.
