Kandla Port expects to cross 100 mt cargo handling in FY16

April 8: Kandla Port, which retained its top position among 12 major ports of India in terms of cargo handling in FY15, expects to cross 100 million tons (mt) handling in the current fiscal (2015-16), said an official statement.
“The port has added substantial capacity during 2014-15 and with this it is expected that Kandla Port will cross the 100 mt mark during 2015-16,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, in 2014-15, total revenue of the port rose 12.78% to Rs 1,136.92 crore against Rs 1008.05 crore in the previous fiscal while net surplus before tax rose to Rs 205.00 crore in 2014-15 from Rs 133.15 crore in 2013-14.
During the last financial year, the port handled 92.5 mt of cargo, a 6.3% increase from 87.00 mt handled in FY14.
In the last leg of FY15, Adani Kandla Bulk Terminal was commissioned and the terminal handled two cargos till March. The maiden cargo at the terminal imported 71,200 tons of thermal coal, it added.
