Coking coal imports through the port of Kandla decreased 40.39% to 32,000 tons in January 2016 against 44,926 tons recorded in the preceding month of December 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal through the port during January 2015 stood at 44,091 tons.
Imports of the material through the port during the first 10 months (April-January) of FY 2015-16 stood at 298,534 tons, down 22.10% from 383,263 tons imported during the same period last year.

In January 2016, the entire volume came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,654 – Rs 7109 ($84-$105) per ton.
In December 2015, the entire volume came from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,633 – Rs 8,728 ($84-$130) per ton.
