December 02: Steam coal import levels through the port of Kandla sharply went up 70.70% to in October 2015 against 19,199 tons in the preceding month of September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal through the port during October 2014 stood at 43,696 tons.
Imports of the material through the port during the first seven months (April-October) of 2015 stood at 198,772 tons, down 25.82% from 267,970 tons imported during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Kandla Port in 2015-16 and 2014-15:

In October 2015, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a range of Rs 5,621 – Rs 8,314 ($85-$127) per ton.
In September 2015, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a range of Rs 6,954 – Rs 8,676 ($111-130) per ton.
