Kolkata December coking coal imports up 8% m-o-m

January 16: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port rose 7.89% to 470,863 tons in December 2014 against a revised 436,427 tons in November (earlier provisional figure reported had been 522,680 tons), as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In December 2013, coking coal imports were at 402,100 tons.
Consequently, coking coal imports for the first nine months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 3,257,018 tons against 4,061,364 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In December 2014, imports comprised 421,414 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6, 821 – Rs 8,463 ($109-133) per ton, while the balance 49,449 arrived from New Zealand in a band of Rs 7,790- Rs 8,151 ($97-124) per ton.
In November, according to revised figures, imports comprised 400,855 tons (previously reported at 487,108 tons) from Australia in a range of Rs 6,275 – Rs 8,301 ($101-134) per ton, while 12,460 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,565 ($122) and 23,112 tons from New Zealand at Rs 8,126 ($131)/ton.
