Kolkata Feb coking coal imports up 34% m-o-m

March 18: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port showed an uptrend of 33.51% to 446,365 tons in February 2015 against 334,329 tons in the previous month of January, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In February 2014, coking coal imports were at 237,738 tons.
Consequently, coking coal imports for the first 11 months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 4,037,712 tons against 4,711,054 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In February 2015, imports comprised 368,991 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6, 437 – Rs 20,202 ($103-322) per ton, 67,374 tons from New Zealand in a price range of Rs 7,704 – Rs 8,078 ($123-129) per ton, while the balance 10,000 arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,632 ($122).
In January 2015, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a range of Rs 6,287 – Rs 13,981 ($101-224) per ton.
