Kolkata Jan coking coal imports drop 29% m-o-m

February 25: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port dropped 28.99% to 334,329 tons in January 2015 against 470,863 tons in January, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In January 2014, coking coal imports were at 411,952 tons.
Consequently, coking coal imports for the first 10 months of fiscal 2014-15 were at 3,591,347 tons against 4,473,316 tons recorded for the same period in the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material during the entire financial year of 2013-14 stood at 5,020,876 tons.

In January 2015, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a range of Rs 6,287 – Rs 13,981 ($101-224) per ton.
In December 2014, imports comprised 421,414 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6, 821 – Rs 8,463 ($109-133) per ton, while the balance 49,449 arrived from New Zealand in a band of Rs 7,790- Rs 8,151 ($97-124) per ton.
