Coking coal import volumes through Kolkata Port in April 2016 were at 320,141 tons against 294,326 tons in March 2016, showing a month-on-month rise of 8.77%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Total imports of the material in fiscal 2015-16 stood at 4,958,810 tons.
Imports for April year-on-year stood 36.07% higher against 235,264 tons seen in the same month in 2015.

April 2016 imports comprised 290,646 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 4,521 – Rs 6,360 ($67-95) per ton while the balance 29,495 tons arrived from the US at a range of Rs 5,403 – 5,453 ($81-82) per ton.
In March 2016, imports consisted of 280,170 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 4,558 – Rs 6,360 ($68-94) per ton while the balance 14,156 tons arrived from the US at a unit price of Rs 6,369 ($94).
