Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata improved by 28.74% to 68,917 tons in February 2016 against 53,528 tons in January 2016, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in February 2015 were year-on-year at 68,709 tons.
With the February figures, total imports of the material in the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 rose 4.30% to 535,018 tons against 512,944 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 were at 541,475 tons.

In February 2016, imports comprised a volume of 68,815 tons from China at a price range of Rs 6,844 - Rs 11,053 ($99-162) per ton while the balance 102 tons came in from Japan at Rs 19,408 ($284)/ton.
In January 2016, imports comprised a volume of 41,570 tons from China at a price range of Rs 7,868 - Rs 10,890 ($117-161) per ton while the balance 11,958 tons came in from the Russia at Rs 10,936 ($160-163)/ton.
