Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata moved up a sharp 79.02% to 53,381 tons in April 2016 against 29,818 tons in March 2016, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in April 2016 rose 49.14% year-on-year against 35,791 tons recorded in the same month in 2015.
Total imports of the material in fiscal 2015-16 were at 564,836 tons.

In April 2016, imports comprised a volume of 38,381 tons from China at a price range of Rs 6,704 - Rs 10,581 ($99-157) per ton, 5,000 tons from Russia in a range of Rs 9,197 - Rs 9,204 ($136-138) per ton while the balance 10,000 tons came in from Australia at Rs 9,413 ($139)/ton.
However, in March 2016, imports comprised a volume of 22,148 tons from China at a price range of Rs 6,704 - Rs 32,280 ($99-475) per ton, 170 tons from Japan at Rs 18,558 ($275)/ton and the balance 7,500 tons from Russia at Rs 9,197 ($136)/ton.
