Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata improved by 28.21% to 53,528 tons in January 2016 against 41,750 tons in December 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in January 2015 were year-on-year higher at 66,271 tons.
With the January figures, total imports of the material in the first 10 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 rose 4.92% to 466,101 tons against 444,235 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 were at 541,475 tons.

In January 2016, imports comprised a volume of 41,570 tons from China at a price range of Rs 7,868 - Rs 10,890 ($117-161) per ton while the balance 11,958 tons came in from the Russia at Rs 10,936 ($160-163)/ton.
In December 2015, imports comprised a volume of 4,608 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 13,445 ($200), 27,040 tons from China at a price range of Rs 8,762 - Rs 10,890 ($130-172) per ton, 102 tons from Japan at a unit price of Rs 18,909 ($283) while the balance 10,000 tons came in from Russia at a price range of Rs 10,846 – Rs 10,936 ($161-163) per ton.
