Kolkata Port’s Nov coking coal imports drop 37% m-o-m

December 14: Coking coal import volumes through Kolkata Port in November 2015 were at 370,227 tons against 588,432 tons in October, showing a decrease of 37.08%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In November 2014, coking coal imports were lower at 436,427 tons.
With the November figures, total imports of the material in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood higher by 27.18% at 3,543,427 tons against 2,786,155 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Coking coal imports for fiscal 2014-15 were at 4,562,254 tons.

In November 2015, imports consisted of 326,470 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 5,483 – Rs 7,545 ($82-114) per ton while 14,652 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 5,690 ($85) per ton, 22,000 tons from the US at Rs 7,090 ($106) per ton and the balance 7,105 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 6,615 ($101) per ton.
October 2015 imports comprised 501,538 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 5,292 – Rs 8,053 ($81-122) per ton while 34,655 tons arrived from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 5,688 – 5,798 ($87-88) per ton, 30,239 tons from the US at Rs 7,102 – 7,189 ($109) per ton and the balance 22,000 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 6,696 ($102) per ton.
