Kolkata gypsum imports drop 44% tons in Jan

February 25: Import volumes of gypsum via Kolkata Port dropped sharply by 43.73% to 583 tons in January 2015 against 1,036 tons seen in December 2014, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
In January 2014, volumes were at 242 tons.
Imports for the first 10 months of the current fiscal were at 4,637 tons against a volume of 4,397 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Following is the break-up of gypsum imports via Kolkata Port in 2013-14 & 2014-15:

In January 2015, imports comprised 378 tons from China in a band of Rs 5,608 – Rs 5,813 per ton ($88-91) per ton, 123 tons from Saudi Arabia in a price band of Rs 7139 – Rs 8,381 ($115-135) per ton, amongst others.
In December, 369 tons arrived from Saudi Arabia at a unit price of Rs 7,173 ($115) per ton and 324 tons from UAE in a band of Rs 6,146 – 9,299 ($96-146) amongst others.
