Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata dropped 24.57% to 41,750 tons in December 2015 against 55,355 tons in November 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in December 2014 were year-on-year lower at 37,590 tons.
With the December figures, total imports of the material in the first nine months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 rose 9.16% to 412,573 tons against 377,964 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 were at 541,475 tons.

In December 2015, imports comprised a volume of 4,608 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 13,445 ($200), 27,040 tons from China at a price range of Rs 8,762 - Rs 10,890 ($130-172) per ton, 102 tons from Japan at a unit price of Rs 18,909 ($283) while the balance 10,000 tons came in from Russia at a price range of Rs 10,846 – Rs 10,936 ($161-163) per ton.
In November 2015, imports comprised a volume of 31,355 tons which arrived from China at a price range of Rs 8,826 - Rs 10,890 ($133-167) per ton, 15,000 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 13,344 ($200-202) per ton while the balance 9,000 tons came in from the Japan at Rs 11,291 ($169-173)/ton.
