Gypsum import levels through the port of Kolkata were at 22,667 tons in February 2016, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In February 2015, imports were lower at 990 tons.
While data is not available from August 2015 till January 2016, total imports of the material in the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 24,950 tons, over 5,627 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Gypsum imports through the port in fiscal 2014-15 were at 5,912 tons.

In February 2016, a volume of 22,326 tons arrived from Oman at a unit price of Rs 1,245 ($18), 270 tons arrived from the UAE at Rs 6,158 ($90) per ton, 50 tons from Thailand at Rs 8,121/ton ($119) and 21 tons from Malaysia at Rs 6,788/ton ($99).
January 2016 saw a volume of 201,469 tons arrive from South Africa in a range of Rs 2,862 – Rs 4,360 ($42-65) per ton, 140,058 tons came in from Indonesia in a range of Rs 2,778 – Rs 5,368 ($41-80) per ton and the balance 21,000 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 3,628 – 7,426 ($53-110)/ton.
