Kolkata’s Mar coking coal imports up 18% m-o-m

April 27: Coking coal imports through Kolkata Port showed an uptrend of 17.51% to 524,542 tons in March 2015 against 446,365 tons in the previous month of February, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In March 2014, coking coal imports were at 309,822 tons.
Consequently, coking coal imports for fiscal 2014-15 were at 4,562,254 tons against 5,020,876 tons recorded in the previous fiscal of 2013-14.

March 2015 imports comprised 444,595 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,530 – Rs 13,995 ($104-222) per ton, 52,532 tons from New Zealand in a price range of Rs 7,646 – Rs 7,966 ($122-127) per ton, while the balance 27,415 arrived from the US at a price range of Rs 8,676 – 8,764 ($138-140) per ton.
In February 2015, however, imports comprised 368,991 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6, 437 – Rs 20,202 ($103-322) per ton, 67,374 tons from New Zealand in a price range of Rs 7,704 – Rs 8,078 ($123-129) per ton, while the balance 10,000 arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 7,632 ($122).
