Kolkata’s March anthracite imports surge m-o-m

April 27: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata surged to 10,240 tons in March 2015 against 201 tons in February 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In March 2014, a volume of 22,999 tons had been imported.
Imports for fiscal 2014-15 were at 160,627 tons against a volume of 160,858 tons in the previous fiscal.
Following is the break-up of anthracite coal imports via Kolkata Port in 2013-14 & 2014-15:

In March, 240 tons came in from China at a unit price of Rs 24,737 ($393) per ton while the balance 10,000 tons arrived from Russia at a unit price of Rs 7,830 ($124).
In February 2015, the material came in from China at a price band of Rs 20,765 – 25,198 ($333-403) per ton.
