Kolkata’s Nov anthracite imports surge to 22,690 tons

January 16: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata dropped to 21,431 tons in December 2014 against revised volumes of 23,512 tons (22,690 tons reported provisionally) in November, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In December 2013, a volume of 15,630 tons had been imported.
Imports for the first nine months of the current fiscal were at 149,518 tons against a volume of 85,783 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 160,858 tons for the entire financial year of 2013-14.

In November, 1,431 tons came in from China at a price band of Rs 18,306 – 26,618 ($293-425) per ton while the balance 20,000 tons arrived from Russia at a unit price of Rs 8,082 ($127).
In November, in a revised entry, 22,690 tons came from Ukraine in a band of Rs 7,066 –Rs 8,899 ($113-143) per ton while 822 tons came from China at Rs 20,865 – 25,945 ($333-414) per ton.
