December 14: Met coke imports through the port of Kolkata rose a sharp 76.78% to 55,355 tons in November 2015 against 31,313 tons in October 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Met coke imports in November 2014 were year-on-year much lower at 28,390 tons.
With the November figures, total imports of the material in the first eight months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 rose 8.94% to 370,823 tons against 340,370 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Imports of the material for fiscal 2014-15 were at 541,475 tons.

In November 2015, imports comprised a volume of 31,355 tons which arrived from China at a price range of Rs 8,826 - Rs 10,890 ($133-167) per ton, 15,000 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 13,344 ($200-202) per ton while the balance 9,000 tons came in from the Japan at Rs 11,291 ($169-173)/ton.
In the preceding month of October, however, imports comprised a volume of 23,813 tons from China at a price range of Rs 9,861 - Rs 11,851 ($151-177) per ton while the balance 7,500 tons came in from Japan at a price range of Rs 11,291 – Rs 11,445 ($171-173) per ton.
