Kolkata’s Oct anthracite imports drop 58% m-o-m

November 26: Anthracite coal imports through the port of Kolkata declined 58.12% to 2,512 tons in October 2014 against 5,999 tons seen in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In October 2013, a much higher volume of 10,931 tons had been imported.
Imports for the first seven months of the current fiscal were at 104,575 tons against a volume of 61,593 tons in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total anthracite coal imports from Kolkata stood at 160,858 tons for the entire financial year of 2013-14.

In October, 2,200 tons came in from Ukraine at a unit price of Rs 8,899 ($143) while the balance 312 tons arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 27,057 ($434).
In September, imports consisted of 5,501 tons from Ukraine in a band of Rs 8,749 –Rs 10,919 ($143-179) per ton, while the balance 498 tons arrived in a band of Rs 22,239 – Rs 25,976 ($366-421) per ton.
