December 12: The spot coal prices in international markets, mainly in South Africa and Australia, firmed up a bit December 11 on lack of offers amidst improvement in spot enquiries, market sources said.
The mild improvement in prices was on expected lines as prices had softened sharply in previous week, but sources feel that any major upward trend may not last long in view of comfortable stocks situation.
Meanwhile, met coke prices firmed up taking a cue from flight firmness in coking coal prices as quarterly contract pricing (January-March) season approaches, they said.
