May 23: Spot coal prices remained range-bound on May 22 amidst limited bids from major buying countries, sources said.
Prices of off-specification (5,500 Kcal/kg) South African coal softened by $0.50 per ton while standard material of same origin and Australian thermal coal rates firmed up by $0.10 per ton.
Indonesian prices remained largely unchanged with the exception of 4,200 Kcal/kg GAR material which softened by $0.25 per ton during the day, they said.
Freight rates, on the other hand, softened further on lower cargo availability, coupled with higher vessel availability, they said.
