Long queue of vessels at RBCT, coal stocks at 5.6 mt

September 26: There is a long queue of inbound vessels at the Richard Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) in South Africa, an industry source told ICMW.
"There is huge port congestion at RBCT. Altogether, 17 vessels are waiting for berthing," the source said.
Due to the increased congestion, coal stocks at the port have also increased. Currently, the stocks at RBCT are around 5.6 million tons (mt), he said.
As per data available with ICMW, coal exports through RBCT in August fell (on low imports by India) after registering a major growth in July exports. For the first eight months of the current year, exports from RBCT stood at 44,335,304 tons, up 0.06% from 44,309,523 tons in the corresponding period last year.
