MAHAGENCO’S June coal imports surpass target

July 16: Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (MSPGCL), popularly known as MAHAGENCO, received a total of 320,000 tons of imported coal in June 2014, much above its target of 292,000 tons, according to provisional data from CEA available with ICMW.
The utilities’ coal imports in June were also up nearly 27.49% as compared to 251,000 tons of imported coal received in May 2014 and down nearly 25.41% as compared to 429,000 tons received in June 2013, the data revealed.
The total receipt of imported coal by MAHAGENCO during the first three months of 2014-15 stood at 1,063,000 tons, down nearly 23.85% as compared to 1,396,000 tons received during the corresponding period of 2013-14, the data revealed.
The utility has been given a target to import 3,500,000 tons of steam coal in 2014-15.
